Another Bad Apple in the Big Orange?

The Michelle Spence-Jones story sickens me.

Most people involved are now claiming that none of this is true and that Commissioner Marc Sarnoff's Memo is bogus. I tend to side with Marc. I don't always agree with him, but I don't think he made this up. I also don't think CBS4 and The Miami Herald would be chasing the story if there was no smoke.

This being said . . .

It's sickening knowing that people are paid off for their votes as if it is just the cost of doing business. It's just business as usual in Miami. It's sickening that the crooked politicians would require a payoff and it is sickening that low life developers would even consider paying off politicians so they can screw over the citizens of the City and County -- their own neighbors.

They are cheaters. They cannot abide by the law or by honest votes for or against their projects, so they CHEAT their neighbors and friends and ruin the quality of life for everyone. They are GREEDY SLOBS.

No shame. The paid off commissioners are lower than low, so are the attorneys who jump through hoops for the almighty developers, but the developers are worse. How do these people face their families? Do they actually look their children in the eyes with a clear conscience? Are they proud of their conduct?

There's a place in hell for crooked land rapers developers. I truly believe it, but first I hope they rot in jail for the rest of their lives along with the crooked politicians.

I would publicly like to thank Commish Marc Sarnoff for his Memo. He restored my faith in his office. I am proud to have him as our District Commissioner. If it wasn't for this memo, this current scam may never have seen the light of day.

Ok, this now makes 2 times in recent history that Miami city officials have been outed for being involved in scams. Im interested to see if anything actually happens this time. What ever happened to "The Firm"? Did they ever have to pay the consequences of their illegal actions? I havent heard of anything. Jones is a shitbag and will probably get off as well.

When that position came up, some of those very people that got paid off were the ones responsible for getting her in office in the first place. Jones was a nobody when she took over, and I believe that the true culprits behind this scam also attended that meeting. To totally blame Jones is like thinking that the Diaz machine is composed of only Manny.

While we're focused on Jones, The Manny Machine is already planning their next move.

Isn't Sarnoff now a member of 'The Manny Machine'?

The Manny Machine are the people that got him elected. They are and will reap the benefits of that support. I think that Sarnoff has a responsibility to the downtown core, which is why he voted for all that stuff they want to build. He has to play the game, especially when Manny is holding all the cards. Look at the county commission and see who overrode the mayor on this same building issue. I was surprise at that vote as well.
You know, Diaz is known as the "Teflon Mayor". Nothing sticks to him. There's the fire fee deal, the land deal with Winton and Aereola (sp), which caused a fine for breach of ethics, the recent payoff on Conway, who oversaw the department with the firm, the Linda Haskins stuff, and I could go on and on. Sarnoff is a very small voice that I don't think we could afford to lose right now. You know that when Jones steps down, there's just going to be another "yes man" to take her place.

I hope Sarnoff Memo to himself is not incorrect in its Allegations.
I like the guy, but if this back fires on him. I don't see how he can get support from any of the other commissioners.

Oh,
It was a big battle getting this internal Memo from Marc to himself out. He was sued by the developer group to release the Memo and he fought it.
So I am not sure what to believe.

Spence-Jones is only the latest in a long line of corrupt Dist 5 (Overtown/Liberty City/Model City)
Commissioners. Remember Arthur Teele. Remember J. Allen? (Right, he disappeared.) She happens to be the puppet of her old boss Manny Diaz. In fact, she owes his law firm for unpaid legal fees. It is too bad she always looks after herself first. Let us hope whoever replaces S-J honors Miami.

A memo to one's self with contrived information about a conversation that Arriolla swears never took place.

Wasted tax dollars on ivestigations by the state that are based on false allegations intentionaly made by an elected official.

Sarnoff has made a fool of himself once again...but this time he's likely to pay a high price for it.

Word on the street is that he is the one in big trouble now and will be facing charges.

At a meeting today a certain senator proposed that Sarnoff be asked to step down.

It looks like it is now Sarnoff's word against Arriola.

I believe Sarnoff and that he was told these things my Arriola even if Arriloa does not admit it and even if some of them may be untrue.

But what real proof is there that this meeting took place and that those points where discussed?

I hope there are cell phone records or a credit card receipt.

But that still does not prove the points made in Marc’s memo.

If there are no witnesses or no recorded record then there is no evidence.

The only hope will be if the investigators can locate some evidence that Spence-Jones committed a crime.

And if so, let’s hope that she receives more then an ethics punishment that usually turns out to be a small fine and slap on the wrist.

I have been told that Mary Conway, Alicia Cuervo-Schreiver and Stephanie Grindell were all college roommates.

So the plot thickens.

Stay tuned.

So what if they were? The good 'ol boys network has existed since the beginning of time, unchallenged, unquestioned.

Now that a couple of poor African-American women have figured out how the system really works they must be condemed?

I don't think so....

The Grapveine does the majority of the name calling..

"....they CHEAT their neighbors and friends and ruin the quality of life for everyone. They are GREEDY SLOBS...crooked land rapers developers..."

The Grapevine should at least try to set the standard for it's own blog...

You could try to be a bit more professional...

Just curious, what is your professional / educational background?

Is this blog your profession or just a hobby?

Are you from the Grove?

Respectfully,

With all due respect Emily, I think what I do is very professional and I think that the thousands of readers a week who read this blog would agree, whether they agree with my views or not.

I am entitled to edititorialize. I find that to be very professional.

I don't work for the Chamber of Commerce and I can publish what I like in my blog good or bad. That is what a blog is.

I give anyone the right to say what they want in this blog as long as they post their names.

I find that most developers are GREEDY SLOBS with no regard to quality of life. I find this to be a fact. It is all about money with most of them.

I also find that if the allegations are true and people are being paid off so that certain projects can be built against zoning codes and the community's wishes, then CHEAT is the perfect word for the situation.

I run a very successful business and have lived in the Grove most of my life, why else would I be running a Grove blog? You think I do it from a distance?

The blog is a commmunity service that I think is needed. I do it for that reason.

Are you FOR the greedy developers and corrupt politicians Emily? What bothers you about my comments?

Wow Emily, you need to chill. 99% of this blog is all good things promoting the Grove to the world. If Grapevine wants to bitch once in awhile, he's entitled. Do you work for a local developer Emily? Sounds like it.

Is Sarnoff going to step down?

After the investigation is completed they will likely find that he fabricated the whole thing and that he intentionally falsified the memo for the sole purpose of slandering Spence-Jones. Worst case scenario - jail time, best case scenario - being forced by Crist to step down.

This morning I was making a shopping list. My husband told me we needed coffee. I wrote coffee down on my list. Later, my daughter looked at my list and said that my husband was wrong and we already have coffee. My husband doesn't remember telling me we needed coffee. It's not clear yet whether we have coffee.

Do you think somebody is going to bring me up on charges? Should I step down as the main shopper? Should I stop making shopping lists? I'm confused.

And commiting slander and libel against a public official has what to do with grocery shopping? Dumb
analogy...must have been posted by Sarnoff himself.
