Weird request
Do they know something we don't? Seems like a really strange request.
Wonder how the folks at Burn Notice feel about sharing their film studio for this?

This actually brings me some comfort knowing our government is thinking about what to do when these events happen.
It is only a matter of time until we see a chemical or nuclear attack on a major US City by Muslim extremists.
Miami metropolitan area is a perfect place to conduct such a horrific event because of the large Jewish population.
Unfortunately, most of our citizens go through life ignoring these realities and then when preparations are being considered they are surprised.
So far, even after 9/11 we have decided to ignore this threat and if we continue to deny reality, "Burn Notice" may take on a different meaning.
I am glad the "government" and FEMA is planning ahead. New Orleans has not come close to recovering from Katrina.
It is smart to plan and be prepared for events we hope only occur once or twice every 25 years.
(By the way, Burn Notice is a great show and it does a great job promoting Miami.)
yeah, i think its because of the upcoming anniversary of 9/11...
What about using the the proposed Super-Luxury condo adjacent to Mercy Hospital?
1. According to the developer, it will be 80% vacant at all times so there will be pleanty of room.
2. There will be easy access to a hospital... One flush with money.
3. Proximity. The proposed building seems to be making everyone in the neighborhood sick already.
Gee. Am i going to be sued?
See as the Orange Bowl is probably going to be torn down in a year or so, I certainly find it an odd suggestion. I also don't think that an open field or rusty rampways would make for a sterile environment, especially in this climate.
Are you sure that they didn't mean the old Miami Arena?
Assuming the waterfront master plan goes through, the Coconut Grove Expo Center will be torn down, too. Maybe the Commission wants to look like they care without actually dedicating any resources to the cause.
Wouldn't it be better to put such a facility in a place that's not surrounded by residential neighborhoods? If there were a biological weapons attack, wouldn't the disease potentially (or ideally if you're the terrorist) be highly contagious?
I propose we vote to place all our political leaders in those places for six months while we fix the mess they have gotten us into.
