Locals met Mike Suarez

"I'm not leaving Miami. Let the corrupt politicians leave."

That's the slogan of Mike Suarez. The new candidate for the District 1 seat, currently held by Angel Gonzalez, said he represents people who are sick of overdevelopment, overspending and a government controlled by special interests.

''I'm fed up with it,'' he said.

Grace Solares held a fundraiser at her home last week for Mike. Here are a couple of photos. It was an intimate way to meet the candidate.

I like the idea of intimate, home-based get-to-know-the-candidate events. Very cool.

It is wonderful to see that the community is coming together to help good candidates in other district. Our commission consists of 5 commissioners, which collectively change our city. We've had a 3/2 against us, the citizens for too long. It is time that our voices are heard in City Hall.

You know, I like what Mike is saying but I just hope he is able to follow thru. I played golf with a guy who got "hooked up" by Gonzalez last week and Gonzalez seems like a total douchebag out for his own interests.

Harry Emilio Gottlieb is the Peter Parker of Coconut Grove. The question is, when will he start crimefighting?

I will vote for him and any politician if he supports capital punishment for corrupt politicians, as they do it in China.

It would be nice if that were the case Miami247, but this is America and the people we elect (or supposedly elect) are allowed to get away with everything. Id love to use the Chinese philosophy on that topic seeing as China will be conquering the world if they ever figure out how to produce and market their own products, which may not be too long.
