SW 27th Avenue concerns
It seems the big concern about the 27th Avenue renovation is the traffic circle and the FPL poles.
Many residents on 27th Avenue don't want to be inconvenienced by the traffic circle. They feel it doesn't allow convenient access in and out of their properties. One guy, I won't mention his name, was pretty obnoxious about Day Avenue and how the traffic should or should not flow there. People can be petty. Rather than care about the good of the majority, they are concerned with themselves. I see this guy on Sundays at the Loggerhead for Dolphins games, I may have a private word with him.
As for the utility poles -- they are being moved back to allow more right of way for the 27th Avenue project, but many people want the lines burried. But it seems this is a very big expense and probably won't happen. The county won't pay for it and neither will private property owners.
One thing that I don't get is that they talked and talked about the beautification project and then they want to add those ugly flashing crosswalk lights like the ones at the Fresh Market. Talk about turning beauty into ugly.

27th Avenue will be a pleasure to walk or drive down, when it is completed.
As it is now, pedestrians walk through the dust and gravel on the unfinished swale areas.
Tourists included. They must become a little confused because they were probably expecting a nice entryway into the charming village.
As for driving, the flow of traffic will improve and the lanes will be defined. Right now, the driving lanes are vague and become easily congested.
Tony, those are my thoughts on the effects of the traffic circle, too. The current layout is a mess; the circle defines traffic flow, and doesn't impede it.
i love that flashing crosswalk. it gets the attention of people on the phone while driving and makes that point on bayshore one of the few areas the pedsestrian can cross in a reasonable amount of time.
in my mind, the more the better.
that guy complaining is probably the same jackass that lives on that dead end off of day and drives a porsche. The prick is so self centered that i watched him almost run over the marithon runners during the ING a year ago as he flew out of his street onto day full tilt. The runners had to stop even though he was the one supposed to be yielding. Then when my neighbors and i yelled to slow down, he gave us the bird.
What a jerk.
I remember encountering some elderly tourists in front of the EZ Kwik who were trying to walk to dinner from the Ritz Carlton. Talk about embarrassing!
I drive thru that intersection everyday and I rarely see pedestrians walking across 27th. The changes look good, I just hope that all of those yield signs and pedestrian signs are kept to a minimum. The way it looks on the map picture is a bit much.
Hey we need some support for Angel Gonzalez's opponent: Mike Suarez. He could be another Sarnoff if elected. He could break that "3" monopoly of bad votes.

The proposed bicycle lanes will be great! And to blindmind - there would be a lot more reason to walk along and across 27th if it was more pedestrian freindly.
Grapevine, just curious -- I remember many months ago you were skeptical about this project, but you seem to have warmed up to it in recent posts. What changed your mind?
Beautiful rendering. I hope they can make it happen.
There appears to be another traffic circle in the making at virginia and shipping. Not sure what the point of having that one there is, although I guess people tend to run the stop sign.
