Bye, bye Häagen-Dazs

Looks like another ice cream store is hitting the dust. At the end of the month, Häagen-Dazs on Grand Avenue will be gone, making way for a restaurant. Seems like the rent is going up again and they cannot afford to stay around. Same old story.

At first it seemed we were over saturated with ice cream stores, now they are dwindling fast.

The good news is, we can use another restaurant in the Grove, so better to have a restaurant than another clothing store or worse yet, hair salon.

I got a flyer in the mail that said Qdoba was coming to the Grove. Hear anything about where they are going to be?

Hmmm. Nice. I actually go out of my way to Miracle Mile (like today) just to go to Qdoba.

I started going to them in Boston a few months ago.

grapevine,
you eating at a chain restaurant, NEVER!! lol I actually think we could use some mexican in the grove. I wouldnt say qdoba is real mexican but its a step in the right direction.

If any of you ever make it to santa barbara CA, stop in the little college town of Isla Vista to the mecca of mexican food, called CANTENA. You will find yourself screaming WE'RE NOT WORTHY!! as you inhale the best breakfast burrito in the WORLD.

Maybe someone should look into the Leasing companies that have been hired to lease spaces in the GROVE and really find out that they are price fixing the rents so that it is difficult for the Moms & Pops to rent in the GROVE. It is a shame that we have so many empty spaces. Maybe someone should take Colliers Abood Wood Fay to task on it, they seem to be the biggest culprits.

I spoke to the manager at Haagen Dazs yesterday and he said an Italian restaurant is coming in to take its place...
