Playhouse nonsense

The Grove Playhouse had until this morning to come up with $470,000 or risk losing part of the property at auction.

Ironically the people owed the money are former board members, who were given "The Bike Shop" next door as collateral three years ago. What a mess.

Mental giant Shelly Spivack, the current board chair says, "It's not over till it's over." Wish she would be over with already.

I think they should modify the Playhouse and turn it into a burlesque house. There is some theater in that and it would certainly draw a crowd. I just dont think the denizens of SoFL are into plays/musicals. This Playhouse tanked and the Carnival Center is a total nightmare...

Oh yes...lets close the Carnival Center and the Playhouse and show scantily dressed girls and gross comedians...that should really bring some culture and first rate entertainment to Miami. Better yet, forget the whole thing and just put a sign that can direct people to Hooters and turn the Playhouse into what...let's say K-Mart perhaps? That should go well with Home Depot nearby. Theaters with good plays fight mightily for existance everywhere but they are a wonderful source of wonder nonetheless. I hope someone can save the Playhouse. Young people in Miami deserve to have a night at the theater and not just those lucky enough to go with Mommy and Daddy to other cities...like NY.

Elena, the whole "burlesque house" idea was plastered with thick levels of sarcasm... Yes, musicals/plays are a nice option to have for an activity but it just doesnt seem that the majority of Miami agrees.

Horrible... I cant find a good detailed map of the grove. From there I need to figure out how to edit said map to point out parking. Thats a whole other adventure.
