Fed turns down city's Make-A-Wish plan

The proposed Make-A-Wish site

There was talk about the Make-A-Wish foundation taking up space at Dinner Key, near Shake-A-Leg and Monty's. I got info on that a week or so ago but didn't think much of it. I asked around and was told that it might be a proposal on the November ballot.

Al Crespo has been all over it and I'm glad to see that according to Al, the Federal Government has turned down our disgusting and greedy city claiming that the deed does not meet with the requirements that any such business should be recreation-related or a service to the community. The US Dept. of Interior says they would consider a land swap possibly to allow for the headquarters to be placed in the center of the park. Why? Why does Make-A-Wish need to be on prime waterfront public park land?

Our city only sees money and never seems to care about quality of life. I like Make-A-Wish and I donate to them often. I bid on a fantastic painting one time and won it through a Make-A-Wish auction, but our waterfront is no place for a Make-A-Wish headquarters.

You can see the story here at Al Crespo's Crespgram.
