The Barnacle is having an Earth Day Celebration from 11 am to 4 pm, on Sunday, April 19. They are teaming up with Slow Food Miami, Bike Coconut Grove, Whole Foods Market and Academy of Arts and Minds for a “super foods for super kids” celebration.
The schedule includes:
11:30 am - Yoga by the Sea
12:15 pm - Smoothie Demo and Free Tasting
1:00 pm - Healthy Eating Presentation by Chef Julie Frans
1:45 pm - Raised Bed Planting Demo and Ladybug release
2:45 pm - Kids Bike decorating and parade
There will be house tours at 11:30 am, 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm.
Cost is $5 for ages 6 and up, $3 for ages 2-5 and kids under 2 are free.
There will be arts and crafts, live music and superheroes.
The Barnacle is at 3485 Main Highway.
I've learned that several of the exhibits will be presenting flotsam and jetsam re-purposed from beach-combing into some very interesting art made from junk and garbage thrown into the ocean by people just like [us]. If you attend this "EARTH DAY EVENT" and purchase something you threw overboard recently wouldn't that be a gas?
