Scooting around town

I guess the scooters aren't a new idea. This is 1916.

English socialite and activist Florence Priscilla, Lady Norman, CBE was given this Autoped as a birthday present by her husband, Sir Henry Norman. She used it to travel to her office in central London.

Awesome picture Tom. It is important to note, this woman is not riding on the sidewalk 15 mph in the wrong direction. I love the scooter idea and am all for the forward thinking mentality, yet the common denominator of the "me first, entitled" people scooting around in Brickell has proven a problem so far. Grown adults are scooting upstream at high speeds (i.e. a few hundred pounds of force) on the sidewalks expecting people to step aside. I believe the scooters are supposed to be on the streets, lord knows the City does not have the resources to police this.

Here in our quaint village I don't see this being a problem because the sidewalks are unfit for illegal riding and people are not in as big a hurry.

She won't get very far with the centre-stand still down.
