'Ode to Your Zip Code'
Theresa's poem |
Join all the Zipode finalist for a reading and reception at Vizcaya, on Wednesday, April 24 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Tickets may be purchased here.
Our friend Theresa Calluori had a poem accepted. She lives in West Kendall and has a friend in the Grove who she always asks to come over, but her friend declines, saying that West Kendall is too far. That's her poem.
“Ode to Your Zip Code” is a South Florida-wide poetry call created by WLRN and O, Miami, a Knight Foundation-funded poetry festival, that turns the least lyrical designation of one’s home, a zip code, into an occasion for poetry.

Every Friday in April, WLRN will announce the top ten poems of the week. All forty poets are invited to read their Zip Odes at Vizcaya. Submit your own here. To submit your own original poems and find out more about the contest, visit the O Miami website. Submissions are due by April 19.
Additionally, to round out the evening, O, Miami and the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center will award the 2019 Marjory Stoneman Douglas Poetry Award. A brief ceremony and reading will kick off Zipodes.
Light Bites will be provided by Dade County Food Group.
Vizcaya is at 3251 S. Miami Avenue.
