Restored park boardwalk open; let's keep it maintained

The boardwalk at Peacock Park is finally open again, it had been destroyed by Hurricane Irma in September 2017 and took this long to be restored. People love it.

"Finally! My beloved boardwalk is open again after a year and a half after hurricane Irma destroyed it, went down there today to check on it and there it was with the gates open, hope they are planning to put some benches along there," said Erika King.

"This morning I walked down to Peacock Park to see the restored  boardwalk. Absolutely beautiful, especially on this cool and lovely  morning. However there was the inevitable trash in and around the  mangroves. Let’s help keep the boardwalk and mangroves beautiful by taking
2-3 minutes to pick up and throw away any trash you see. There is a can by both entrances/exit. I was able to pick up trash it took me about two minutes to make a difference in the  appearance of the boardwalk area. If we all did this the beauty of this special place will be maintained," says Sunny McLean.

Happy we are finally able to use this little space of peace, beauty and serenity. Scattered the ashes of a very dear friend many years ago off this exact sight at the request of her family. Nice to visit again.

'They need trash bins along the boardwalk, not just at the exits...people are lazy and won't be carrying trash out!'

It took a year and a half to rebuild this, a few pieces of wood? You’re kidding, right, this is a joke, right? If so, I am so glad that I moved and left everything that is South Florida. Looks like nothing has changed what so ever in terms of taking forever to get absolutely anything done in that little hamster wheel.

Thanks for leaving Anon 4:43. You dim witted SOB. Several hurricanes devastated thousands of homes and this boardwalk pier. Yesterday a storm just devastated Somalia. In a reality movie "BLACK HAWK DOWN" it appeared every Somalian grabbed their AK-47 and shot & killed American military personnel, yet American values are dumping needed supplies to them to avoid death & mayhem here, now, today. Yet you dim witted Son of a Bitch bitcs as we rebuild our community. Jobie Steppe

9:30 Saturday morning the gates to the walkway to this precious little remaining open waterfront are closed and locked while people with kids wander over to take a look.

So sad, So Bad, So Miami.

No sign of opening hours or even if it will ever open. So Miami.

The walkway in Kenedy park is not locked or even gated and there is no problem.

Really, City of Miami Employees and Politicians, can't you do better than this for the citizens paying your salaries?

I am so sad! I walked through Peacock Park this morning at 10:20 am, hoping to see the new boardwalk. The gates were both padlocked shut. A sign said the park is open 7 am to 10 pm--but not the. boardwalk? Why would it be shut on a beautiful Saturday morning? Answers, please?

I took my daughter to to the park yesterday Saturday March 30 around 3pm only to find the gates locked. What the hell is the purpose of the gates and who decides when they are open and closed? If they don't get their act together I see many broken locks in their future.
