Let's control the over-development in the Grove

The Miami City Commission will vote Thursday, October 25 regarding the size and scope of new homes being built in the Grove along with other recommendations regarding legislation to protect Coconut Grove.

Developers are opposing this legislation. Stand up for our neighborhood, enough is enough. Come to City Hall at about 2 pm, when the issue will be heard.

Also, please email the city commissioners and let them know how you feel.

I'll hazard a guess. Over-development in the Grove will continue. It's like an old West John Wayne movie. The railroad is moving West, through Laredo/South Grove, and the surveyors inform the mayor, who inform a few of his friends, who in secret buy up (in the Wayne movie, run off or kill those who own parcels of land) where the tracks are going to be laid. They'll never give up this cash cow. Jobie Steppe

I oppose this proposal because it will facilitate over development in the Grove. The proposal has a long list of building elements which are excluded, not counted, in determining building size. The site depicted in the petition 4111 Hardie Ave has a FLR of 51% , 3058/5990 when calculated according to the proposal. The actual building area, according to the advertisement, is over 5,200 square feet on a 5,990 square foot lot or 87%. There are just too many excluded building components to make this a viable protection for the Grove.
