US Sailing Center needs your help to survive
This letter came from Ed Cabassa, president of the US Sailing Center here in the Grove.

The Sailing Center (2476 S. Bayshore Drive) was the idea of a few well known Coral Reef Yacht Club, Biscayne Bay Yacht Club and other sailors back in the 1980s. They wanted to open a facility for sailors to train and compete while also providing the community a place they could call home to access Biscayne Bay. Along with this dream came the honor of the right to use the Olympic Rings from the US Olympic Committee.
The Sailing Center has had a storied history with Biscayne Bay Yacht Racing Assn. (BBYRA) as well as all neighboring clubs for over 25 years. These relationships have given the opportunity for local, national and international sailors to become the best sailors in the world. The Sailing Center has worked closely with BBYRA in the hosting national and international regattas providing launching, storage, committee rooms and support to our local and visiting sailors who otherwise would have no access to the waterfront.
We need your support to impress its importance upon the City of Miami Commissioners! We need the votes of at least 4 out of 5 commissioners to obtain the lease renewal. Commissioner Russell is supporting the lease renewal. He has shown his huge support for the Sailing Center and is a friend of the waterfront community.
Please show your support for the future of the US Sailing Center Miami by emailing Mayor Suarez (fsuarez@miamigov.com) and the five (5) City of Miami Commissioners, Carollo (jcarollo@miamigov.com), Reyes (mreyes@miamigov.com), Gort (wgort@miamigov.com), Russell (krussell@miamigov.com), and Hardemon (KHardemon@miamigov.com) and coming to the public hearing where the vote on the lease renewal will take place on May 10, 2018 at Miami City Hall.
Please let them know, especially if you are a City of Miami Resident, what the Sailing Center has meant to you and your families over these past 25 years.
We plan on having a “Show Your Support Meeting” at the Sailing Center on May 8, 2018 at 6:00 pm as we prepare for the City of Miami Commission Meeting on May 10, 2018 at 9:00 am.
