The central valet service stinks

I am not a fan of the new central valet service around the Grove. They have taken up so  many valuable metered parking spaces on the street. Up to five spaces in some locations. Is this a good idea? I don't think many people use the service. I don't valet often. I don't like strangers in my car if I can avoid it and I'm not going to pay $5 or $8, plus tip, to run in and out for coffee or other quick stops.

If you park near Greenstreet and leave the car there, you can have them bring your car to say, Peacock Garden Cafe, for instance. But that makes no sense at all, since it will take extra long to get your car back.

Another thing - I asked a guy who works for the service where they park the cars, he pointed down Grand Avenue and said, "Down there a few blocks." Not sure what that means, but does he mean street parking? Are they blocking three to five parking spaces at the valet spot and then parking the car in more parking spaces up the block?

The Florida Avenue/Rice Street valet takes up a whole block of spaces. How is this helpful?

The valet parking service stinks. Give us our precious parking spots back. The majority of the public would prefer to pay the meter than the valet. I'm not against a valet service, but five locations around the village is too much and each one is commandeering too many parking spaces and there are not enough to go around as it is.

The Miami Parking Authority (MPA) sold a valuable garage which is now becoming an office building, the Coconut Grove Bank lot was sold to condo developers and we lost valuable parking spaces there and now the valet service is taking up street parking thanks to some agreement with the MPA. Where the hell are we supposed to park in Coconut Grove? It's ironic that the Parking Authority has eliminated so many parking spaces. Makes no sense.
