Jorge Colina named new Miami police chief

"Chief Rodolfo Llanes highly recommended Jorge Colina as his successor. The fact that he served as Assistant Police Chief in all the divisions makes him extremely qualified and well-rounded to lead the Miami Police Department," said City Manager Emilio Gonzalez. He will be sworn in on January 26.
I spent time with Chief Colina over the years and I know him and his wife Sandra well enough to say they are two incredible people. Honest, friendly and he is someone who you would want as your police chief. He was a big part of the Grove - even part of the Coconut Grove Bed Race, on the Police 5-0 team a couple of times. He was at almost every Grove event from arts festivals to the Golden Coconut Awards.
Mayor Francis Suarez says Chief Colina will be around for awhile, unlike so many who have come and gone through the city's revolving door.
One time Sandra and Jorge Colina were in New Orleans the same time I was, we were on the same flights, too, going and coming home.
“Man, I’m tripping out,” he said, after meeting with the new City Manager. That sort of sums him up - very down to earth - a friend, a next door neighbor.

Dear Chief, our Police is equipped withvthw heavey weight of Glocks, cartridges, radios, tasers, handcuffs, mace. About time time add work8ng cameras.
