This Miami Forever bond issue has me confused
How did Gabrielle get my personal cell phone number and why didn't she respond when I questioned her about it? I know I don't know her because she called me Thomas and no one calls me Thomas, not even my parents.
The last time the mayor went on tv pushing something was the waterfront issue in the Grove. He pushed a bunch of strangers in other parts of the city to vote "yes" on our waterfront which is now being renovated. These folks probably never set foot in Coconut Grove, but they were fed a bunch of things about lower taxes, etc. and we the majority of Coconut Grove voters, who voted against the project, were outnumbered by strangers.
So I do question this Miami Forever bond which is supposed to help with rising sea levels.
And when I went to look up the link above I found that it's a paid link on Google. All the money being wasted on this campaign makes me wonder how much of the bond money will be wasted.
By the way, here is a sample ballot for this election.

In Dade County we voted for a half-penny transportation tax in 2002. There have been no approved final plans in 15 years and the money was used for other purposes. ILLEGAL. County leaders have been against rail expansion, only for road expansion and no solution to worsening traffic. Bond money may still be relatively cheap but what happens when there are no deadlines on such money schemes which are supposed to be spent on projects and end up like the 2002 money?
Tom,
Are you really saying that after 8 years of flagrant example, after flagrant example of how the members of the Miami City Commission have screwed the residents you really are confused about voting to give them $400 million dollars to piss away. How many sweetheart deals, how many members of the Family and Friends Plan, and how many more stories of the taxpayers getting screwed will it take before you, and everyone else who live in the City of Miami realize that these people are scammers and crooks? When you have Commissioner "Selfie Boy" Russell declare he doesn't care whose putting up in the money in the secret PAC that is funding this effort, then you better grab your ass with both hands, because this lying weasel in less than 2 years has managed to become an even more devious scumbag than Marc Sarnoff.

Look what is at the bottom where the money is coming from.

This is wrong at all levels there is no truth behind this and the Mayor should be ashamed. This is how he gets paid by consulting after he leaves as mayor. this is the trick politician use "consulting fee"

What worries me about this bond deal is the fact they are calling it Miami Forever Bond and only half the money is actually going to help with the rising tide problem, but one has to really doubt if that is actually the case. Typical politicians with their 3 card Monty. I will be voting NO!!
Vote No, this can wait a year to get a clear plan of action.
Jane Gilbert is a strong resilient director but the rest of this bond smells of political payola...
Just say no to bonds with no clear purpose or plan for how the money is to be spent or repaid. If the city is serious about dealing with rising sea level they should use money for rapid transit, lower parking fees for metro, parking for metro mover, better bus service, car free zones downtown served by metro mover.
This bond issue being sold as a bond that will cost taxpayers nothing because it's using borrowing capacity being freed up from older bond issues that are being paid off. Beyond my inherent doubt at any government entity's ability to properly manage money, what would be so wrong if that savings in interest and principal payments were used to lower Miami taxpayers' tax burden? I also have issues with the allocation of the funds being left up to the commission, which I seriously mistrust to do anything right. I'll vote no.
