A delegation of Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Coconut Grove visited the campus of Frances S. Tucker Elementary School at 3500 Douglas Road in Coconut Grove this week and met with the new principal, Fredrelette B. Pickett, to discuss the Rotary Club’s education project, an annual donation of student planners and teacher/parent/teacher folders.

Coconut Grove Rotary President Richard W. Martin II, leader of the delegation, said, “I am so pleased to continue our club’s support of Tucker Elementary, a Rotary tradition that goes back 11 years.”

The student planners assist students in developing planning, organization and time use skills. The teacher-parent-teacher folders enable better communication between the home and the school. The student supplies were delivered in time for the opening of school in late August. Tucker Elementary has a student enrollment of 330 in grades Pre-K to 5.

The Rotary Club of Coconut Grove provides service and financial support to initiatives within the community, as well as to various international humanitarian projects. Locally, it has funded after-school programs, youth sports, and health initiatives. Meetings are held every Thursday at 12:15 pm at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club, 2990 South Bayshore Drive.
