Hurricane Irma

I had been out of the Grove so I missed a lot of the action. Was south of West Kendall with my family.

Through Facebook I saw all the water action. Lots of storm surge. But I guess that's life on the bay. The Coconut Grove Sailing Club was under water. Members and friends are trying to clean up today.

Looks like the former Scotty's was hit real hard.

I drove up from Palmetto Bay today along Old Cutler Road. It was all smooth sailing, hardly a car on the road, some land crabs, which brought lots of memories from the past.

All was clear, even through the tree tunnel near Fairchild Tropical Gardens and Matheson Hammock looked to have trees down.

Good news is that the tree tunnell is not destroyed. There are branches down, but it's nothing like Hurricane Andrew.

My first roadblock because of fallen trees,  was in the South Grove. We had to detour back and make it through Douglas Road and US1, then make it up US1.

As for us tree huggers always in conflict with tree issues, Mother Nature may have stepped in to have the final say.

As for boat damage, well, if the boat was left at the docks, then that's what you get.
Luckily no one was hit by a flying boat!
