Boarding up
Everybody is boarding up around town, there are sandbags against doors and hopefully, we will have done all of this for nothing and Hurricane Irma will go out to sea.
I went to get something cold to drink at Starbucks, but they were boarded up and closed. I did go to Burger King, where the girl refused to take my $20 bill because it was ripped. She said they are not allowed to tape it and put it into the safe that way. I stared her down and her manager looked at her like she was less than smart and she ended up taking it. I was very polite, I have to go back another time, after all.
This concerns me. Is it safe in hurricane winds?

Their safety rating is up to 145 mph, beyond that they are very much a threat...
It looks very dangerous to me!
I am worried about the crane, I can see it falling down, or worse, flying down!!!
Construction company's disengage the slew gear to allow the crane to swing against the wind. Sounds a bit dangerous, but think of it as a big weather vane.
The far better construction company building the 3 towers at 27th and Bayshore brought them down. Just another instance of a subpar contracting company about to cost a lot of other people a ton of money.
Remember the time at Five and Dime Store (Currently Jaguar's) when some company working next door at Cocowalk dropped something from a crane, I think a load of construction material, right on the roof of Five and Dime going right through to the store? That was lucky because no one got hurt except it was the nail in the coffin for Five and Dime Store.
wbgoodnightgracie, not all cranes can be brought down on such short notice
