Monty Trainer receives Hall of Fame award
Monty with his Hall of Fame award. |
For over 30 years, Monty was a member of the UM Golden Cane Society, where he provided the script to feed thousands of UM athletes. He also provided many restaurant jobs to college athletes and was known for his tailgate parties, with the Monty's Food Truck, one of the first in the State of Florida, which raised funds for the athletes.
One of the main issues taught through the Coconut Grove Sports Hall of fame is the importance of leaving a legacy through investing in others. Their mission is to recognize and honor outstanding student athletes and coaches, who exemplify extraordinary sports accomplishments.
Monty is well-known for Monty's restaurant and as president of the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, among being part of many charitable groups and organizations and also fund-raising events like Taste of Miami, the Orange Bowl Parade, Super Bowl and more.
