'Tree devouring white boxes" subject of Herald story

“What they’re doing is hollowing out parts of the Grove, lot by lot,” said David Villano, a longtime north Grove resident. “One of these things is fine, two is fine. But at some point the Grove won’t be the Grove anymore. They’re parasites. They’re sucking the life out of what makes the Grove special. And they’re profiting from what they’re destroying.”

This is from an excellent article in today's Miami Herald regarding the over-building in Coconut Grove.

You can read the article here.

It really touches all bases on the main issue facing Coconut Grove today - over-development and greed and the disappearing greenery around the village. Developers are just out for the quick buck, many building shoddy structures to capitalize on the village's charm, taking that charming and destroying it. They don't care, they don't have to live here.
