Goombay Village Party and art exhibit
This years celebration will launch festivities that transforms Grand Avenue into a journey across the ocean, creating a perfect harmony of Caribbean culture of the Bahamas and the African American energy of Miami-Dade County.
Join KROMA Gallery the day before, on Friday, May 26 for cocktails, conch, and amazing art. Did we mention there’s a DJ and sweet giveaways every hour? Yep. You won’t want to miss this. Guest Curator is Consul General of The Bahamas in Miami, Ricardo Treco who will help celebrate Miami's Bahamian cultural presence since 1873.
KROMA is located at 3670 Grand Avenue.
And then on Saturday, May 27, out on the street from Douglas Road to Plaza Street, you'll enjoy the Goombay street party from noon to 6 pm, with music, arts, crafts, culture, authentic Bahamian food, Junkanoos, kids zone, face painting and so much more! It's all free and open to the public.
This is all to promote and launch the return of the large Goombay Festival which will return in 2018.
