I think we are very much like Stars Hollow

Saw this post: 5 Real-life Towns Like Stars Hollow That 'Gilmore Girls' Fans Would Love. The first one is Washington, CT and it sounds an awful lot like Coconut Grove. Amy Sherman-Palladino, the show's creator and producer spent a night there and fell in love with the town and that gave her the idea for the Gilmore Girls show and the town of Stars Hollow. What caught my attention was that she was amazed that everyone knew everyone else at a diner and that someone helped themselves to coffee from behind the counter when the waitress was busy.

It caught my eye also because I sort of fashioned the Grapevine as Coconut Grove's version of Stars Hollow. At the beginning, I wrote about the same people and a few people got what I was doing, I was posting a narrative of daily life in Coconut Grove, with repeat characters as if it was a tv show and Coconut Grove was Stars Hollow. People approached me and told me they understood what I was doing, I loved that. But in the end, the Grapevine ended up posting daily news and the character driven aspect sort of got lost.

Of course Washington, CT is more historic than Coconut Grove by the fact that they still have their history standing, where we are historic, but don't have much to show for it. Washington CT has colonial buildings and antique shops and all that New England stuff you picture in your head, including a red barn that houses a cinema.

But from what I could see from Google Maps, including pictures, it is not as pretty as Coconut Grove and it's more spread out and not as walkable as we are. I think we are more Stars Hollow than Washington, CT is, even though they were the inspiration.
