In lieu of an entrance fee, monetary donations will be accepted at the annual event to help sponsor the Castaways Against Cancer.
Over the last nine years, Festidan has raised over $30,000 for numerous charities with proceeds from its annual event. Festidan has evolved over the years, each year becoming bigger and better, while also turning greater donations over to these charities. The first three years were held at Bicentennial Park as a tailgate party benefiting Camp Boggy Creek. In 2010, it relocated to Coconut Grove as a Block Party, followed by two years at Peacock Park, benefiting the ALS Recovery Fund. In the last three years, the event has teamed up with the Castaways Against Cancer to host pool parties at Finnegans on the River and the Rooftop at the Mayfair Hotel.
The Castaways Against Cancer crew is a rag-tag group of kayaking enthusiasts who paddle from Coconut Grove to Key West to raise money for the American Cancer Society during their annual Relay For Life event. More information can be found at castawaysagainstcancer.com
“As a Coconut Grove resident and ‘lifer,’ I’m excited about opening the doors to our community and bringing in some good energy to coincide with all the new restaurant openings," says Dan Travieso, founder and namesake of Festidan.
