Meeting set up to preserve the Grove

There is a meeting regarding development in Coconut Grove, along with the tree canopy and preservation.

The meeting is at Plymouth Church, Davis Hall, on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 pm.

Neighbors are disgusted with the changes going on in the village; non-villagers have come in and started destroying everything in sight out of greed. Laws and rules have been ignored by the city and something needs to be done now. Developers have come in, killed trees to make way for over-sized houses and paid a small fine as the cost of doing business.

Commissioner Ken Russell is being sought out to be part of this important meeting and an arborist is also needed.

Plymouth Church is located at 3400 Devon Road.

A leader is supposed to lead and not just be sought out to attend a meeting that purpose is to address the concerns of our community and its desire to preserve what remains of Coconut Grove.

History has recorded many seemingly average men and women who rise up when communities and societies cry out in concern of some social issue(s) war, famine, disease, natural disasters or when trying to improve or reverse their decaying status; such as comments in the Grove have revealed. Anon 10:45, perhaps it is the LEADER who has called for this meeting.

Ken Russell recently voted to change the zoning on Watson Island from park & recreation to a commercial use. CS to CU. The up zoning allows a massive bar/club to be built. Pandering to developers much?

Trees are being killed by ignorant "So called Professionals under the guise of professionalism.

Our city leaders are gutless including the city manager.

No one is in charge.....Except the construction people who leave to infect other local cities.....

I am insulted that our city will not enforce a decent code that we already have...

Ken Russell is already giving up Watson Island?!!

I hope he is not like that.

Does anybody know his wife who will run in 8 years?

(Please tell me this is not true.)

Please attend this meeting, share your concerns, speak out, make a difference and get your government to work for you.
Also send your concerns and suggestions to Ken Russell (krussell@miamigov.com) and if possible request an appointment.

It's not up to Ken alone to fix these problems. It goes much higher. I intend to gather as much information about these issues as I can before the scheduled meeting. And hope to have some questions. There is no doubt in my mind that this building frenzy is mostly illegal. I have found that the best way to stop it is to go public. Perhaps the herald might be interested. By the way,I don't think Ken's wife would want to be a commissioner. She has a job already. She is a veterinarian.

Give em hell Liz, but send the results to the Governor's office who can assign someone to this illegal activity, if in fact this stuff is illegal.
