Local designers re-design part of The Kampong

Each designer or designer team has made-over a room. Some of the items will become permanent fixtures at The Kampong, according to the Junior League President Emilie Goldman Wernick, others only on display for the duration of the show.
Rooms were transformed in the Fairchild‐Sweeney House, the Barbour Cottage, the Sausage Tree Cottage, and the surrounding grounds.
Money raised from the Showhouse will go to Junior League-sponsored programs that help women and children in the community.
"We are excited to be part of this event. As a Coconut Grove resident, it's always wonderful to partake in a fundraiser that helps out such an incredible fixture in our own backyard," said Crissi Courtney Boland. Over the past six months, the collective team has worked to bring the century-old historic landmark back to its former glory.
The Junior League of Miami 2016 Showhouse will be from April 7 through 24 from 11 am to 5 pm, Tuesdays through Sundays. The premier Showhouse Opening Party is April 6 at 7 pm, where you can join community leaders and meet the designers responsible for the Showhouse.
The Kampong is one of five tropical gardens and three preserves of the National Tropical Botanical Garden. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. The mission of the National Tropical Botanical Garden is to enrich life through discovery, scientific research, conservation, and education by perpetuating the survival of plants, ecosystems, and cultural knowledge of tropical regions.
