We checked out the new Spillover restaurant

I checked out the new Spillover restaurant, by Matt Kuscher, owner of LoKal on Commodore Plaza and Kush in Wynwood. The Spillover is at the Mayfair Promenade, across from the former Improv, which is being transformed into another restaurant - They Typsy Mermaid. Lots going on in the Grove these days. The Spillover is called "a local seafood, cyder and mead bar," but it's more than that.

You may remember the location of The Spillover as the former Artway66 Gallery, you can compare the brick wall now and then.  The top picture is the first image of the blue brick wall, it was just completed last night. The place has been transformed and will open for business this Spring. I met Colin, the new manager and he's excited about the new restaurant. Matt calls it a place to get "good local seafood in an affordable, casual environment."

The menu is quite extensive. There's everything from Shrimp Corn Chowder ($5) to Lamb Burgers ($14). There is Veggie Pasta with shrimp ($14), Jambalaya ($14), BBQ Gator Ribs ($22), Rotisserie Chicken ($13), Lamb Meatballs ($10), Conch Strips ($12); Crab Cake Sandwich ($15); Lobster BLT ($20); Conch Sandwich ($14); Lobster Reuben ($20), Classic Burger ($13); Pan con Bistec ($13); Banana Creme Pie ($8), Cheesecake ($8), Guava Bread Pudding ($8) and so much more. If you pass by, you can pick up a menu right outside the door. They even have a Doggie menu - Chicken and Rice; Meatballs and Veggies and Cuban Chew-gars (cigars, get it?) ($5 each).

The Spillover is located at 2911 Grand Avenue, suite 400D.

BBQ Gator Ribs on the menu. It's half a rack of fall-off-the-bone gator ribs from Starke, Florida, slow-roasted for 2 1⁄2 hours then finished on the grill with their famous Honey BBQ sauce.
