The Oyster Princess at Viewing Vizcaya

The Oyster Princess, a film from 1919 is part of this month's Viewing Vizcaya series. The movie will be shown Wednesday, September 23 from 7 to 9 pm. Viewing Vizcaya movies usually are from the era of James Deering, who owned the house and grounds. This would have been something that he and his friends might have seen when it was first released.

The Oyster Princess is a German silent movie directed by Ernst Lubitsch. It is 60 minutes long.

About the movie: "Ossi is the spoiled daughter of an American oyster magnate who demands to be married after hearing that her rival socialite has married which causes all sorts of hijinks and a whole lot of ridiculousness to ensue. Live theater organist will improvise the score as we watch the film in the Courtyard of the Main House."

Doors open at 6:30 pm and drinks and snacks will be available for purchase until 8:00 pm. Films featured in our Viewing Vizcaya film series typically originate in the early 1900s, when societal viewpoints were different than our current accepted norms. Because of this, viewer discretion is advised.

The movie is in the Courtyard; cost is $12 members/ $18 for non-members. For tickets, please go here: https://vmgoysterprincess.eventbrite.com
