Meet Chef Cindy Hutson at Bookstore event

Cindy Hutson, shown here, self-taught chef who developed a passion for cooking at the age of nine, will be holding a cooking demonstration and book talk at The Bookstore in the Grove on Thursday, October 1 starting at 6:30 pm.

Cindy was inspired and amused by the "Original" television culinary genius of the "Galloping Gourmet," English Chef Graham Kerr and "Chef Tell," German American Chef Friedemann Paul Erhardt, two of the first tv chefs.

Cindy owns Ortanique on the Mile in Coral Gables with partner Delius Shirley, which has been a fixture for 13 years. And the couple also opened Ortanique on the Crescent at Camana Bay, on Grand Cayman Island in November 2010. The restaurant's menu reflects the same global inspirations that created the menu of Ortanique on the Mile. 

"The islands are in my heart," says Cindy, "so I'm excited about bringing my love of the islands to guests and visitors."
