Music is the theme of FAM Night these days
The majority of the attraction is the live music now, which is great as the performers are excellent.
The musicians are placed around the Grove from Commodore up Main Highway and over to CocoWalk.
All the restaurants were full as far as I could see and that's a good thing.
Eric Lopez and Yvonne Rosemeier at The Loft are doing what I think many other stores should do - they are featuring art in their hair salon/boutique. This might be the solution to our lack of galleries. They are standing in front of a couple of pieces by Cuban artist Lenore Anthony.

Ironic isn't it? What's the antonym for nostalgia? You know, the era when buskers got the bum's rush out of the Grove...
Enough with the art already.wynwood is the art place to go to.the grove was the club and var place to go until things got stupid.the grove needs to stop and think for a bit.and realize the clubs need to come back or it will die completely and lose out to develepe
There were at least 5 art galleries participating that I visited, so I'm confused as to why you would say there were only 2. Frameworks and the Coconut Grove Art Festival Gallery were open, but so were all the stores on Main Highway, like the Clyde Butcher gallery, the Via Gallery and one other (I forget the name, but they are all in a row on that side of the street) were all open.
When I opened Blu Moon Studio in 2008 there were about 12 galleries in the Grove. We formed a group to promote an Art Walk in the Grove with some support by the BID office. One by one the galleries fell by the wayside, due to differences of opinion, public apathy and high rents. I stopped doing exhibits because it was increasingly frustrating to keep making an effort with no real return in terms of support and attendance. The Grove can never have a thriving art scene as long as it is driven by greed and cronyism. Many communities provide permanent spaces to artists and support them in order to create a vibrant and exciting art scene. I believe this will never be the case in the Grove. I will be finishing up my time in this community soon, and I will leave with many good memories, however, as an artist, my future lies elsewhere.
