Key Biscayne residents' fundraiser for Grace Solares
Residents of Key Biscayne are holding a fundraiser called, "Save Virginia Key," to raise funds for Grace Solares's commission race. The event is Wednesday, April 8, at the Grand Bay Club. While the locals on Key Biscayne cannot vote in the Miami election, they feel that they can help Grace get elected because they feel she will be on their side regarding the $16 million event space being considered as part of Miami Marine Stadium renovation plans. The locals on Key Biscayne feel that the event space will just bring more traffic and mess to the fragile islands.
Ironically, when I look outside my window, the main thing that sticks up it's ugly head and ruins the whole view is the Grand Bay Club on Key Biscayne, which is way out of scale for the area. So for the Key Biscayne residents wishing to control the City of Miami while they could not even control their own development on their own city island, is questionable. But times are changing and people are more aware of over-development and seem to think enough is enough. The infrastructure cannot accommodate all the new houses and buildings in Miami, Key Biscayne and the whole county, actually. While a few line their pockets, all the rest of the residents suffer.
Grace has raised a red flag in the past when the development was first announced regarding the Marine Stadium. One of the first events planned for the site in 2016 is the Miami Boat Show, which brings in thousands of people, and traffic.
