Sailors included in Regatta Park discussions
While the many regatta sailors were in town recently, discussions were held with members of the Waterfront Implementation Committee on how to include the new Regatta Park Baywalk, Boat Launch System and Floating Docks into the regatta system, including the visiting regatta community.
The participants included several groups that run various regattas around the world. The master plan includes using the park and waterfront for sailing events. Planning the areas for boat launching boom arms, dockage, and ramps for smaller boats led the discussion. Gary Bodie, from US Sailing discussed various requirements that were necessary to make the site work for the regatta events.
The City CIP (Capital Improvements Program) Deputy Director, Project Manager, and Marine Engineering consultants attended the meeting and took notes to help with preliminary planning.
The February meeting will have them bring draft ideas for discussion. That meeting is Wednesday, February 11 at 5:30 pm at City Hall, the public is welcome.
