It's awfully quiet
I miss seeing all the young people walking around the village and so many on bicycles with backpacks and such. I used to see them at the bars and the restaurants, at The Fresh Market and the Bookstore and basically all over, there was lots of traffic in front of the yacht club and sailing center, but other than all that traffic, it was so nice to see all that activity in the area.
Also, everyday all you had to do was look out to the bay to see so many sailboats dotting the blue water. Well, another regatta will be back soon. It's just nice to let them know they are appreciated.
This Friday, the Melges 20 Winter Series will be at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club, which runs through Sunday. And the Etchells Florida State Championship will be at the Coral Reef Yacht Club February 7 and 8. And the US Sailing Club has the Viper Valentine Regatta over the weekend, so it's nice to know they'll be back soon.

its to bad the new grove is anti people
They were really packing the Fresh Market every day. We won't miss the long waiting lines but all businesses must love them and will miss them. They're the only events left that are not ruined by money interests and corporate crap. Can't cage in the sailors, can they?
The Etchells Regatta this weekend is the Florida State Championship and is run by Biscayne Bay Yacht Club Race Committee. It is the third regatta for the Etchells this year. The boats are beautiful one design sloops that were designed by Skip Etchells, a champion Star sailor.
"The only events left". That is until the developers find a way
to fill in the entire bay for more projects. Can't sail on land!

Yes, Mr. Mad Russian, we also want huge Burger Malls everywhere, at every Spoil Island too. The Shake-a-leg Kids would love'em!
The economic impact of the sailing regattas and visiting sailors and their coaches and families is quite significant for the businesses and restaurants of the Grove and surrounding area. It is an activity that our community should support and the plans for the new Regatta Park are a good step in the right direction.
