The Sixth Floor Trio - Teddy Abrams, Harrison Hollingsworth, and Johnny Teyssier - and the 2015 GardenMusic guest artists will perform genre-defying programs that range from classical chamber music to folk, rock, and Latin jazz. This year's festival features four evening concerts and two children's concerts, each carefully curated for the enjoyment of all ages.
"Our aim is to pair one of Miami's most beautiful settings with world-class music-making, bringing together tremendously talented and engaging musicians from around the world in a schedule of programs that cross the spectrum of time and musical styles," said Teddy Abrams of the Sixth Floor Trio. The GardenMusic Festival was a winner of a 2012 Knight Arts Challenge award from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
Fairchild Board of Trustees Vice President Jennifer Buttrick launched the GardenMusic Festival in 2012 to bring awe-inspiring music to a lush tropical setting for all to enjoy. The inaugural event brimmed with full and short-form concerts, open rehearsals, choreographed dances, and an instrument "petting zoo" for children. The festival has continued to bloom with unique collaborations and the world premieres of works composed by GardenMusic artists.
Concerts begin at 7:00 pm with pre-concert events at 6:00 pm. Performances are held in the Lakeside Marquee near the Visitor Center. Tickets prices range from $0-$50 and vary by concert; they are available online at fairchildgarden.org/gardenmusic or by phone at 305-663-8091.
