Special Veteran's Community Bay Day
Shake-A-Leg Miami (SALM) will be hoisting its sails and commemorating Veterans’ Day with a special Community Bay Day, Sunday, Nov. 9, from 1 – 4 pm.. The celebration will pay tribute to the men and women in uniform and their families, with free and fun water-based activities, entertainment. Food and refreshments will also be served.
Veterans and their families and the community at large will be able to enjoy a day out on the water exploring majestic Biscayne Bay on sailboats, kayaks, paddle-boards, as well as participate in other activities. SALM, a longtime supporter of veterans, provides year-round aquatic programs for disabled veterans and their families such as Learn-to-Sail, We Can Sail, and Kids Club. Shake-A-Leg is proud of its joint effort with the Miami VA in assisting veterans with physical and emotional challenges, and providing them and their families community-based recreation and sports activities. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about all new and ongoing veterans’ programs at Shake-A-Leg Miami.
Shake-A-Leg Miami’s mission is to improve the health, education, and independence of people with disabilities, disadvantaged youth, and their families, using the marine environment.
Shake-A-Leg Miami is located at 2620 South Bayshore Drive.
