Watch city meetings on your smart devices now

The City Clerk's Office, in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology, has successfully upgraded the City's web streaming system used for City Commission meetings. Before the upgrade, City Commission meetings were only viewable on mobile devices and PCs using a Microsoft operating system. Starting with the first budget hearing on September 9, 2014, citizens will now be able to view live and archived City Commission meetings on mobile devices and computers that use Apple, Android, BlackBerry, Microsoft, and other operating systems.

Good thing; my ATT Unverse Cable doesn't show the meetings and for some reason when I get sound only when I try to see the meetings on the internet. Now we have a choice. On Comcast, it's shown on Channel 77.

"Providing our citizens with innovative and convenient outlets to view City Commission proceedings has been one of my primary goals as City Clerk and I am extremely proud to be part of a City that embodies the important principles associated with Government-in-the-Sunshine," stated Miami City Clerk Todd B. Hannon.

Upgrading of the City's web streaming system involved multiple divisions within the Department of Information Technology and required the installation of a new Performance Accelerator to stream video in a format compatible with mobile devices and computers using various operating systems.

"One of the many challenges associated with an upgrade of this nature involved the complex configuration and integration of the Performance Accelerator within the City's network. My team was not only up to the challenge, but completed the installation ahead of schedule and in time for the City's first budget hearing," stated Chief Information Officer Kevin Burns.

Live streaming of City Commission meetings can be accessed through the "Watch Miami TV Live" button located on the bottom left of the City of Miami's website at: www.miamigov.com
