Summer exhibit brings out a nice art crowd

The Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery had a large turnout for its grand opening of "Allegories for Time" exhibit on Saturday. The exhibit represents works by a select group of South Florida artists from very different backgrounds, all part of a cultural mosaic that is complex, yet harmonious. Lots of locals stopped by, nice to see so many in town during the summer.

Through these works, the viewer perceives a glimpse into these artists' expressions and their understanding of the world around them. Moments, ideas, messages, stories, all fleeting, but captured in allegories for time.
Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery artists Ray Lopez, Patty Suau and Mwanel Pierre-Louis. Ray Lopez was not only a part of the group show, but he curated the entire exhibition. I would pass by the gallery during the week and see him diligently working at the big table in the center of the room, every time I went by.

The Gallery is located at the Mayfair Atrium. The exhibit is open all month, Monday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm.
