Popular fall events returning

Some of our signature events presented at the BID meeting this morning. The Grovetoberfest beer festival will be back October 18 and on October 19, the Coconut Grove Seafood Festival is back. Last year's Seafood Festival introduced stone crabs coming in the first day of the season by helicopter, this year something even better is planned.

Earlier in the month is the Coconut Grove Pumpkin Patch with more freebies added for the admission fee ($15 kids, $10 adults).  I wasn't that thrilled with last year's event, but they are stepping it up this year. All rides and lots of other fun things like the straw maze is included this time. There are more sponsorships and it should be bigger and better this year.

The Christmas Village should be back and CocoWalk has big plans for this year's tree lighting ceremony, which will fall the day after Thanksgiving to coincide with Small Business Friday.

Details to come as they emerge.

Bed Race was not talked about at today's meeting, but it's in November.

We didn't go to last years Coconut Grove Pumpkin Patch but for $15 for adults and $10 for kids that better be a lot of freebies. There will probably be online discounts, via Groupon or Living Social, so there's no reason to pay full price.

Yeah-- we skipped out on the Pumpkin Patch too because of the cost. Other major cities have really good free ones that are well run -- like NY's awesome Pumpkin Patch in Central Park...

The great pumpkin is not coming. And if he did, he'd be p*ssed about that ridiculous price. What a joke.

Seriously, that is so overpriced! We have a large family and it would cost us about $135- Maybe it should be free for 33133 zip codes! This is way overpriced! I know most families are not the size of ours but even a family of 4 would cost $50- Is it really worth it? Plus money for other things like FOOD! Yikes! Don't think we'll make it out. We really need to have some better family friendly activities here. It would attract families from outside the Grove and increase business.
