SPECTRUM at Art Basel welcomes local artists
SPECTRUM Miami has provided Life Is Art (LIA), a local charity, with a donated booth during Art Basel. LIA will feature local aritsts in their booth. The focus of the [mi.ami][inter.play] both is collaboration – between artists, between the arts and the community, and between Miami and the art World at large. Works are encouraged to be collaborative creations with two or more artists, but are not required to be so. Works may be in any of the visual mediums.
Art Basel is December 3-7, 2014. The SPECTRUM booth is in midtown at the largest satellite site in and around Wynwood.
Any artist living or working in south Florida may apply, the art will be juried. Preference is given to collaborative works, but individual works are also welcome. They are also encouraging 3D and multi-media works. A small application fee ($5.00) is assessed to cover the costs of processing. All work must be for sale. Life Is Art is taking no commission, but a 20% sales commission will be paid to the booth staff. There is no hanging fee. Deadline for application is August 23, 2014.
SPECTRUM Miami Art Show, part of Miami Art Week and Art Basel Miami, will incorporate a wide range of local artists and emerging spaces into this year’s show through programs like Art Labs and Late Night. Life is Art and Yo Miami have been designated as an Art Lab partner and will be collaborating to present an exhibition and live mural painting performance during the event. They will be located at 3011 NE 1st Avenue at NE 30th Street.
Life is Art was selected to participate partly based on their similar mission to create positive change in the community with arts and culture. LIA operates in exactly that interplay between the community and the arts and how those build on and feed each other.
