Quiet summer days

It's been quite slow this summer, I don't remember it being like this. It's nice in a way, but still it's a bit strange, makes me think of how Miami was back it the day, when things would close up for the summer.

So many restaurants are closed down during the day and we don't have as many things going on as in the past with galleries and things like that. Right were this couple is standing used to be the Mayfair Antique Market, they used to stay open for the summer and there was activity around there. Now it's all offices. Even a half block up, AnnaMaria used to have something going on at the Windisch-Hunt Gallery. Now it's offices. Maybe this is how winter will look, too. Offices on top of offices. It's a new Grove.

It's too damn hot to be out & about, and the skeeters seem even more fast & furious than years past.

Personally, the Grove is on an up-tick...but agreed on the climate. The heat and humidity have been horrible. Last weekend my wife said "let's go for a walk and I suggested Dadeland Mall. Five minutes outside and you feel sticky and slimy.

I know this will sound bad, but all those boaters @ all these sand bar parties; thousands and thousands & all of them with money to party. We have space where the convention center once stood & plenty of anchorage, plus a few public parks, PLUS the out islands in front of Coconut Grove????????????????????????????

At least if they fall down they won't drown.

Marc Sarnoff and his mafia finally killed the commercial areas of the Grove... High rents, expensive parking, vacant stores...

Huh? Can you elaborate on what your point is?

Yes anon 9:56: Since the Grove has a lot of watering holes, bar craws, etc., why not create activities to attract this crowd to our out islands, anchorages & open spaces/parks and get a crowd willing to party and spend some money about the Grove. And since 300 boaters have killed each other on and around the Bay area "AT LEAST IF THEY FALL DOWN THEY WON'T DROWN". In other words get those drunks off the water and onto dry land - HELLO? You know, save the kids!
