World Cup viewing parties in the Grove

A couple of restaurants at the north end of town have special goings on during the World Cup these next few weeks. The Grove Spot and TK's at Villa Mayfair have it all for soccer fans.

The Grove Spot has face painters 45 minutes before every USA game, so show your red, white and blue during the game and for the rest of the day. Walk around town all painted up!

On Saturday June 28 and July 5 they have the Samba drummers and dancers in between the games on the patio.

There are chances to get into the world cup finals raffle by obtaining tickets during any match and any day. They have great prizes. There are beer specials and a great happy hour with wine and fountain drinks, Don Q rum cocktails and more.

There will be a foosball table to show off your abilities and entertain yourself and your friends.

Check out all their World Cup Soccer Specials in the bar and restaurant. Spend $25 or more and get entered in the Grove Spot World Cup Sweepstakes.

Their soccer menu includes French Fries ($2.50); 2 mini-sliders ($4.50); 2 mini hot dogs ($4.50); chili con carne ($5.50); a sandwich croquet (6.00); Bitterballs ($7.00) and Vol-au-Vent ($8.95).

Bud Light is $2.50 for draft; $11.00 for a pitcher. A Bud aluminum commemorative bottle is $3.00.

The Grove Spot is at 3324 Virginia Street.

TK's at Villa Mayfair will be showing  all 64 World Cup matches on their large Large HD Screens. Simultaneous matches will have their own screen.

World Cup special drinks include Brazil's Caiparinhas at $4 and Germany's Radeberger draft beer at $3. And for the family, they have a Brazilian lemonade at $3.

The chefs of Tk's have crafted delicious dishes of the countries in Group G and the host country Brazil.

From Germany, they have the grilled Blood Sausage. Flame grilled to perfection, this blood sausage is accompanied by sauerkraut and freshly mashed potatoes.

From Team USA, they have Hot Chicken Wings. These spicy chicken wings come in your choice of breaded or naked, smothered in hot BBQ sauce and served with fresh carrots and celery sticks and ranch dressing.

From Portugal, they have the Cataplana de Mariscos. This unique dish of stewed mussels, clams, shrimp, tomatoes and chorizo sausage is accompanied by warm crusty bread for dipping.

From Ghana, they have the Hummus;  perfect for sharing, this plate is freshly-made with warm pita bread, dates and cornishons drizzled with virgin olive oil.

And from the country hosting the World Cup 2014, Brazil, they have the crispy Pastelzinhos. Golden fried empanadas filled with sautéed spinach and creamy ricotta, served with piquillo peppers, lime and mayo dressing.

TK's is at 2901 Florida Avenue.

And there's Barracuda, Sandbar, Mr. Moe's, Duffy's -- you'll find a favorite spot in the Grove to find the games shown live, with lots of drink and food specials.
