Alfest is back for 16th year

Alfest is back for it's 16th year, the popular bar crawl is Saturday, June 28 and covers a slew of bars in Coconut Grove. Camp Boggy Creek is the beneficiary, a charity for children battling cancer.

As usual, The Sandbar, host bar, is the starting place, also on the list are The Grove Spot, The Tavern, Barracuda and Mr. Moes.

Registration starts at 5pm at the Sandbar (3064 Grand Avenue), with the crawl kicking off at 7 pm.

The Mayfair in the Grove has once again come through with great room rates for all Alfest participants. They are offering their Mayfair King Suites for a rate of $125 a night and their Executive Suites with two king beds for a rate of $145 a night. So grab a hotel room so that no one is drinking & driving.

Reserve your room using this link.

And buy your Alfest tickets here. They are $25 per person.

I'm an old fuddy-dud, not much for bars, drunks, loud music and mouths. What do these pointed fingers represent, tongues sticking out, is everyone always this happy looking or is it just the booze? I recommend that families stay off the Grove streets during ALFEST. Plus their caloric intake is excessive, so lay off the sugar drinks and don't drive!

Perhaps a retirement community would better suit your lifestyle.

Anon 11:20: Are you serious? Anon 6:14 already lives in the fabulous civilized retirement community of Coconut Grove next to City Hall, Mercy Hospital, The Grove Business District, shops, restaurants, parks & public exercise locations, bicycle paths, Biscayne Bay, a boating capital, etc., etc., etc..

Hey anon 6:14- yes please stay home. They might be having more fun then you had since the 50s. They are also raising money for a good cause. Do us all a favor, go to the site and donate your money and keep your opinion to yourself. Thank You!! Grape- thanks for the post.

We had fun in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90's, 2000, & up to today. And we don't support booze for these so called "good cause". We take care of our own, pay our bills, and support our sober straight community(s). We don't stay home, but do watch out for drunks and other antisocial activities such as binge drinkers, drunks, druggies and folks that act strange, walk funny and end up falling down, throw their alcoholic drinks all about down town Grove - - - - thank you Mark for getting those community service (misdemeanors) to clean up our streets before civilized folks see their mess every week-end. Welcome to the new Grove!

@That Guy

Hi! Just jumping into the fray here to thank you for defending us drunk drivers. It's about time someone stood up for us.
If the local bars hold an event in the Grove where getting drunk and roaming from one bar to another is the whole point of the event then these old farts need to just shut up and stay home. Drunk people are what makes Coconut Grove it's money and the people who live there need to accept that or just move.
If the social cost is a few accidents and an occasional death in a car then so be it. It is what makes the Grove money and the landlords have to be paid.
The Miami Police never have DUI checkpoints around the Grove so I know it's the one place I can get totally faced and not worry about getting stopped on the way home.

Can't wait till the next festival. It's always a blast watching all the drunks trying to weave their way out of the Grove and down US1.
Life is short so party hard!!

Signed,
UM Party Boy chillin at Sandbar
