FAM Night seems to be all about the food

The hit at Saturday night's FAM Night was the food, more than anything. People seemed more into the paella being served at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery than they were about the art. Here the steaming wok is unveiled. People rushed it like they never saw food before. It does look good, I didn't get to try any as the art crowd devoured the food before they could be reminded that they were out to enjoy the local art for the evening, not the freebies. For those who cared, there was an incredible photography exhibit inside the gallery.

Lots of live music filled the streets and Atrium as you can see here, outside the gallery.
Fuller Street always has its own beat. More civilized at that part of town.

Sheri Friedman's Blu Moon Studio was crowded with people. Great showing there. Here Sheri takes a selfie with the crowd in the background.

Right outside Blu Moon, there was a cool drawing of a tree where everyone who came by was dipping their fingers in paint and then adding the image to the tree, here Atena Komar adds her imprint. That's Amanda Alders Pike with her,  from Art Therapy Consulting and Services.

Let's be honest here: A vast majority of the "Art" was really lousy, for any standards. And there was not that much, anyway. The street music was also scarce and rather pitiful this time, except for the regular band back there by Blu Moon. The drum circle was boring and low. Heck, even the Paella was terrible, dripping with grease and salt, not to mention the pathetic duo playing along and the "art" there. No wonder very few people venture out to these "Gallery walks", sorry to say. Can't blame them to go for "Spiderman" instead..

I'll assume your comment is correct, that it was basically lousy, but so what? And people were more infatuated with the freebies, but who isn't. Socializing has many benefits and will help eliminate the deadly disease caused by stress. If you more away from the dollar sign the Grove is the PERFECT place to relax and enjoy - - - - the best things in life. Jobie Steppe

Sledge. I assume you are an Art critic and a drummer. Otherwise I would say your negativity does nothing for the Grove. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Liz
