Venice votes to split from Italy
Venice, being a water city sort of like Coconut Grove, has a lot in common.
The Grove was stolen by the City of Miami in 1925, until then, it was its own city. As for Venice, the 1000 year old city was claimed by Italy in 1866.
Venice may now start to withhold taxes from Rome. The Venice Republic? Sort of like the Nearby Republic. The main difference here is that Venetians voted in this election, not all of Italy. In our case if there was a vote the whole City of Miami would vote. The Grove always gets the short end of the stick.

Tom, would the Grape support a real effort to split from the City of Miami? And is there sufficient industry to pay for our independence, police, fire, trash, etc.? We probably have the talent within, but can we support ourselves without industry and just real estate tax dollars?
