Earn Your Stretch 5K planned for April

Pilates in the Grove invites you to celebrate whole body health and wellness at its inaugural Earn Your Stretch 5K, benefitting Grove Outreach food bank, on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Run or walk through the beautiful, tree-lined streets of Coconut Grove, and enjoy a finish line stretch led by Pilates in the Grove instructors and local movement practitioners, and a post-run celebration with nutritious treats. The event will take place throughout Peacock Park and Coconut Grove and will combine running, stretching and healthy food options into a fun-filled community event for the whole family to enjoy.

“We are hosting Earn Your Stretch 5K to share the Pilates principles of whole body health and commitment – which includes exercise, nutrition, plenty of sunshine and fresh air, and recreation – with our friends and neighbors, for an important cause,” said Christa Gurka, Pilates in the Grove owner. “Grove Outreach food bank has been feeding and nurturing those in need for the past 23 years, and we hope this event will bring better nutrition and health to more of our neighbors.”

Earn Your Stretch 5K begins at 7 am in Peacock Park. The post race stretch and celebration will also take place at Peacock Park. Early registration (through March 15) is $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. General registration (through April 5) is $35 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under. Day-of event registration is $40 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under. Proceeds benefit Grove Outreach food bank. Non-perishable food items and toiletries will be collected at race packet pick-up, and at the event.

Great concept for the Grove: Come to the Grove & work out en-mass, then those folks can linger about the Grove all day, visit our other parks, view the Bay, boats, etc.
