Spartan Race; running, getting dirty, facing adversity

The Miami Super Spartan race is coming up April 12 and 13.  They are inviting all Grovites who are out there running, boot camping, doing yoga and just being physical, to consider joining in.

Spartan Race is on a mission to get you active, healthy, excited about change, and return to ancient roots where running through woods, getting dirty, and facing adversity was part of everyday life. The event are all about challenging today’s perception of normal. Sort of a Tough Mudder, but even more diverse.

The event challenges the familiar, today’s perception of normal living and getting you out of your comfort zone. At Spartan Race, they do this everyday and it shapes everything they do.

Having experienced many different racing events, they wanted to make adventure racing more accessible to everyone, but do not be fooled by the word ‘accessible’, as the events have a challenge for everyone’s needs.

Spartan Race now introduces a level for everyone beginning with the entry level Spartan Sprint, intermediate level Super Spartan, the advanced Spartan Beast, and the ‘99.9% need not apply’ extreme level Death Race.


Whatever your level, Spartan Race will test your strength, stamina, and sense of humor. Team racing is part of the mix, if you have a group, feel free to start a team.

THey also have a Spartan Kids racing event. The kid’s race is a much tamer version of the adult race, about 0.5 miles of small obstacles. The race kicks off between noon and 1 pm on race day. All Spartans ages 4-13 are welcome to sign up. 4-8 year olds will run a course nearly a half mile, while 9-13 year olds will take on a one mile course. There will be a Junior Spartan Race held on each day, too.
