Sailing Club presents "Maiden Trip"

The Coconut Grove Sailing Club will present the South Florida premiere of the 2013 SXSW Film Festival's Audience Award Winner, Maiden Trip. This is a one night only event on Wednesday, March 5, at 7:30 pm.

The documentary follows Dutch fourteen year-old Laura Dekker, who will stop at nothing to become the youngest person to single-handedly sail round the world.

"Observant and unassuming, the documentary looks at the significance of Laura's trip not in terms of records, but as a rite of passage, and as a way for the teen to negotiate her past".--Indie Wire

This film is suitable for both kids and adults. It is a free event open to the public. It will take place at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club, 2990 South Bayshore Drive.

This marked the beginning of the new monthly film series, featuring works with a least a touch of nautical salt to them.
