New dining options in Coconut Grove
I've been meaning to tell you about La Gamba on Main Highway, it's a new Spanish Tapas place at the former Ludo's at 3437 Main Highway. Laine Doss did an excellent job in the Miami New Times, so might as well have her tell you here.
Also open for a couple of months is the new Italian restaurant called Strada, at 3176 Commodore Plaza, near Lokal.
The food is delicious and while I like it myself, I have heard very good reviews from friends who have visited.
They are always crowded for lunch, while they have the back patio, that is not being used yet, but they open the large glass front doors and the cooler weather (when we have it) comes through.
Lunch prices start at $12.99. They have beer and wine and check out the original coffee grinder they have on site. Restored to a bright red, from the turn of the century.
The menu is quite large so there is a lot to choose from. The place has been done over from top to bottom and it has a fresh, airy feel to it. Just recently they added tables out front.
For Italian food, I suggest Strada. I'm an Italian who doesn't like Italian food, but I do enjoy it here. It's been described as "upscale and cozy," which it is. For some reason, it just fits in to the corner there with LoKal nearby and Bombay Darbar across the street. It's a nice little shady spot in the Grove.

Wow a turn of the century coffee grinder!
I must take a trip down and see this late 1990s/early 2000s coffee grinder.
That will be something to show the family when they come and visit.
All joking aside, Strada is a nice restaurant.
Speaking of new restaurants is the Barnickel (sp?) ever going to open?
