Coconut Grove's old waterfront

Got this great photo from Biscayne Tales (@BiscayneTales) on Twitter, who got it from FloridaMemory.com. It's Dinner Key back during World War I when it was a Naval Station, long before the area became the Pan Am airport. All this talk about the waterfront, it's interesting to see what it was -- large hangers blocking the water's view.

What's old is new again.

Those hangars weren't blocking the view because the view wasn't important back then!

I guess the waterfront plan opponents would like to go back to this?

Miami's elected officials would like to take the city backward.
