You can't have anything nice; or have any fun
One thing that occurred often here was that police cars were sent out to sit in front of the offending establishments all night. They had their lights on and basically scared off business.
Today the Grove still suffers.
There is also talk about the Wynwood Art Walk getting out of hand (read too successful).
According to the New Times story, bar owners in downtown, who have the police and Commissioner Sarnoff on their side, are going after competition in Wynwood.
Sarnoff in the middle of this? No! Can't be. And our buddy David Collins, former Grove BID Director is the BID Director now in Wynwood. Do they even have a BID in Wyndood? I hope this is not a repeat of what happened in the Grove. This is akin to the City of New York killing SoHo or Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The whole story is here.

Wow just read the New Times story totally smells rotten and there can only be 1 Commissioner behind the stink! I hope they take him to court and quickly before he ruins the town. Can't believe Collins is head of another BID , more stink!
Don't mess with Collins and Sarnaev they have been anointed by Sue.
I used to have one of the largest Bar/lounge/club/ restaurant in the Grove during the last of the good days. what Tom states in the article is correct we were targeted for anything we did or said even in city hall when we went in front of the zoning board. We even got a full ATF raid with swat for selling drugs and selling to minors. At the end there was nothing in the establishment but it was a way to drive out business. WE used to bring in on average 750 to 1000+ consumers to the Grove weekly. Sad to say it worked and all business suffered look at cocowalk it is vacant.
The bar owner in that MNT article admitted to serving past permit time.
"He doesn't deny that Shots was selling booze past 3 a.m., but he says everyone was doing it. "They never enforced this shit before," he says."
Um, Hello? He gambled for profits and lost.
Plus, he probably also didn't pay up his Mafia Tax. Where did you think you were doing business, De Junited Estay?
Hey Anon April 26, 2013 3:04 PM: who is sue?
